Since 2022, Redeemer Valley Farm has donated more than 900 pounds of produce to Redeemer Village residents. Located on the Sisters of the Redeemer’s former farmland in Huntingdon Valley, Pa. and founded by the Sisters in 1981, Redeemer Village is a HUD-subsidized community for active adults age 62-plus, who meet specific income criteria.
In June 2023, Redeemer Valley Farm began enhancing the Redeemer Village produce donations with live cooking demonstrations for the residents. Every two weeks, Creation Caregiver Sr. Leslie Porreca, RSM, prepares a new delicious recipe highlighting the produce shared with the Redeemer Village residents. The cooking demonstration provides residents with healthy ideas and inspiration on how to use the produce they receive. Some of the recipes Sr. Leslie has prepared include: vegetable soup, zucchini cheddar scones, and vegetable eggrolls.
